Summer 2017 is Here!

Summer season in Sunriver has arrived! Here is a repeat of the gorgeous video montage of Sunriver sights that I shared this time last year to get you excited about your upcoming visit!

And, if you need a little more magic to get your enthusiasm in full swing, four new baby swans (cygnets) just hatched at Lake Aspen behind the Nature Center in Sunriver! Check out this darling video footage on Facebook or the Nature Center's live stream.

Here are a few updates (also repeats from last year) to help ensure you have a smooth visit:

If you have in the past brought your own water vessel (i.e. raft, kayak, canoe, etc) for floats down the Deschutes River, please be aware that you will now need to bring one of the six SHARC guest passes (located in the closet near the dining room table) to access the free owner/guest parking area at the Sunriver Marina.

In case you haven't visited for awhile, a couple of summers ago the Sunriver Owner's Association converted the North Pool to an Owner's Only pool.

If you haven't yet downloaded the free Sunriver Navigator App to your mobile device, click here for more information.

In addition to the App, there are many other local websites to help you plan your trip. Here are our some of our favorite resources for information about Sunriver and Central Oregon events and activities:

Sunriver Winter 2016 - 2017

We had some amazing surprises during our most recent visit to Sunriver. A first-time close-up look at a herd of Elk:

and a close-up look at Sunriver's two resident swans on the shores of Lake Aspen. What a treat!

Get Ready for Summer 2016!

Summer season in Sunriver has arrived! Here is a gorgeous video montage of Sunriver sights that is sure to get you jazzed up about your upcoming visit!

We have added a new amenity to our Sunriver Home: A ping pong table! You are welcome to use our ping pong table when you visit, but we do ask that you take care to return both sides of the table to the upright position and return to the side of the garage, and gather back the balls and all four paddles to the red supply bag and hang the red bag on the table when you are done. Likewise, if you use our bikes during your visit, please be sure to return to them in a orderly fashion to the front of the garage prior to your departure. Thanks!

Here are a few additional important updates for our summer guests:

If you are visiting in late June, be prepared for an especially busy time in Sunriver and Central Oregon June 24 - 26 as the The Pacific Crest Triathlon and Sports Festival celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

Turf Tunes and Twilight Cinema, SHARC's free, outdoor concert and movie nights can be found at this link: www.sunriversharc.com/calendar

Finally, here are some advisories from the Sunriver Owners' Association:

"The Oregon Department of Transportation is widening U.S. Highway 97 between Bend and Sunriver and installing additional median barriers. This project will reduce southbound travel to one lane through most of summer, so factor in some additional time driving to Sunriver from Portland and points north, or just running back and forth between Sunriver and Bend."

"Summer has arrived with a record-breaking heat wave across Central Oregon. Higher-than-normal temperatures are expected and have dried out our forest, and we ask that everyone be extra cautious out there. Dry, hot temperatures also generate summer lightning storms. In the event of a storm all outdoor aquatics at SHARC and the North Pool will be closed until the threat has passed."

"ROAD AND PATHWAY SLURRY SEALING
PLEASE PLEASE obey all road and pathway closure signs, barricades, cones and flagging. Driving, biking, walking on still-wet asphalt damages the surface — not to mention it sticking to your tires, shoes, dog paws, etc. This needed maintenance is only a temporary inconvenience, and stretches the lifespan of the road or pathway — saving thousands in costly road repairs and replacement."

"FIREWORKS
This is a reminder NO FIREWORKS are allowed in Sunriver. This includes the so-called “safe and sane” variety. There are free, July 4 firework displays that will take place in Bend and La Pine."

Have a wonderful time in Sunriver! Please get in touch if you have any questions or if you'd like to book YOUR next getaway!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Sunriver has received a ton of snow this winter! Here are a couple of winter events on tap in the area:

January 16 and February 6, Black Light Blast nighttime tubing event 6:30-8:30 p.m. at SHARC. Imagine sliding down the tubing hill in the dark with your clothes glowing strange colors while watching a laser light show. It’s a hoot. Call 541-585-3147 for more info and to reserve a space.

February 5 and 6, the third annual Sunriver Chill Out takes place. The Chill Out includes Glow Skating at the Village Ice Rink on Friday evening, February 5 and the Sunriver Brewing Company K9 Keg Pull on Sunday, February 6 from 12-3 PM in the parking lot next to the brewery. According to the Sunriver Owner's Association, "The Keg Pull is a lighthearted competition for canines of all breeds and sizes. Dogs are equipped with harnesses to pull empty beer kegs along a 150-foot runway. It’s a fun, family-friendly event for canine participants and spectators alike."

Summer Season is Upon Us!

Summer in Sunriver is here!
Photo Courtesy of One of Our Guests

There are so many fun options for activities, it's hard to decide what to do.

Some of our favorite activities when we visit Sunriver are biking and hiking (and sitting and sipping). Each summer we try to get to at least one Bend Elk's Baseball game, and one summer we learned all about geocaching (there are several geocaches in Sunriver).

Other fun options include:

The High Desert MuseumCheck out the museum website for upcoming events. Closer to home, the Sunriver Nature Center also has fun, educational activities. You can find their event schedule hereEven Mt. Bachelor has events and activities during the summer. Check it out hereAnd, Sunriver Resort's Fort Funigan has fun activities planned year round. Here is a current sampling from their website:
